10 Tips for Using Social Media and Facebook Pages

Here are some helpful tips to promote your business online using social media and Facebook pages. Please Like our Facebook page.

Have you Planned your Social Media Strategy for 2011? Contact Katy for free 30 minute Skype consultation. Only 5 slots available.

1. Tweet regularly every day at least 6 tweets and space them throughout the day. I do this using a tool called Hootsuite. Then when I have time during the day, I can spend time listening to other's tweets and answering questions and sending tweets to indivuals and having a conversation.

2. Put your Facebook page URL on your Email Signature. One of the best ways to drive traffic to your Facebook page is to add the URL to your email signature. Also add links to your Facebook page to your Newsletters, Twitter pages, Skype statuses, and your home page.

3. Ask your friends and clients to Like your Facebook page. You can also put a call to action directly on your homepage that says "Please Like my Facebook Page".

4. It's best pracice to blog 3 times per week. Read other blogs in your industry to get inspiration for new topics. Write answers to questions that your prospects and clients ask often. I recommend that you set up Hootsuite so that it will automatically post your new blog content to Twitter and your Facebook page.

5. Send out free copies of your newsletter to people you meet at Networking meetings. Be sure to include a link to a sign up box on your website. That way they can preview a free sample and then go to your website and sign up for your newsletter.

More Facebook Page Tips:

6. It's best to use a vertical logo for your Profile pic. Facebook automatically uses your profile pic for a thumbnail for the posts on your wall. I used to have a horizontal logo and Facebook cut off both ends so the thumbnail didn't look very good.

7. For your profile pic, you can add info about your business. Add slogans, bullet points that describe your services and your contact information. This will help your fans find your contact information quickly.

8. The new layout allows you to show a row of photos at the top of the page. I uploaded screenshots of my latest websites. Then when visitors click on one photo, it pops up and becomes a slideshow to view all the portfolio shots.

9. Post your Facebook page info to Twitter. Go to http://www.facebook.com/twitter/ and you can hook up your Facebook fanpage to tyour Twitter account. So now all the posts that appear on your Facebook page will now be automatically posted to your Twitter feed.

10. Get a nice short URL for your Facebook page. Once you receive 25 likes for your Facebook page, you can get a custom URL that is nice and short.
